HOMEMAKING 2: PRIORITIES

If you list your priorities, it may look something like this:  God, husband, children, home, friends &
family, ministry.  The problem with the list is that it can be frustrating and guilt and condemnation
can set in, if we haven’t met our expectations on the list.  The Bible once again says that we are
to do everything as unto the Lord, right?   Well, the Bible also gives us women guidelines.  Titus
2:5 says that we are to keepers at home, ministering to our families and creating a home of love.

Proverbs 31 is all about a Christian woman’s life.  I feel that at different stages of life, things vary,
as children leave home, and things change in the home.  But it still does not have to be boring
but can be very fulfilling.

When we get ourselves UNDER a priority list, we can end up miserable trying to follow it.  Here
is how it should be.  JESUS is at the top of the list for sure.  We talked about Him being the
CENTER of our lives in the “Becoming A Woman of God” section of this website.  The One “In
whom we live, and move and have our being” Acts 17:28.

Then, all the other listed ltems above in paragraph 1 all are important, differing in importance and
priority from day to day depending upon the need of the person or thing needing to be done on
that day.  So our lives vary from day to day and even from minute to minute, but all that we do is
under the headship of JESUS living through us
as His body, in order to meet that particular need at that particular time.  Then we don’t have to
feel like a failure or like we have not met our priority list, because things change daily.  But no
matter what, we are doing all as
unto and for the Lord!

Jesus juggles the list around.  Each day is different.  Perhaps it is a sick friend who needs help,
maybe a sick child needs your comfort at home, maybe your husband is feeling low and needs
your encouragement and love, maybe your house is dirty and needs to be cleaned now, maybe
you’ve got a responsibility at church to fulfill and it needs your attention that day.  And maybe
you just need time to do something you like to do for yourself at times, to get a breather.  You
can give yourself more to one thing than another on one day, and more to a different thing on the
list the next day, if I make myself clear?  Jesus balances it all out!

You can be serving Him just as much by changing diapers, preventing diaper rash, as praying.
All the day long
is given to Him.  He said in Proverbs 3: “Commit thy ways unto Me and I will direct thy path.”

Praise the Lord, our days don’t have to be in our hands but HIS!
Isn’t that exciting and FREEING!  And He does a much better job of organizing our time than we
ever could.
I want to thank our dear
son, John Kehrli, for
building me this beautiful
website.  I am so proud of
it and hope that you too
will enjoy the things he
has put on this site to
make it meaningful to you.
