Chapter 2

GOD’S SPECIAL BLESSINGS-- ARE THE REWARDS FOR GODLY MOTHERS!

Now we need to align ourselves not only with God but also with our husbands and the Body of Christ.

The word submission is a very important command that we wives have been given by the Lord.  We don’t like this
word very well, and it really grates against our flesh, and sometimes we feel like this word is going to kill us.  Well
it will!  It will kill flesh, because the Lord knows that we women like to control rather than submit; after all, we are
the descendants of Eve.

The Word says in Ephesians 5 that we are to submit to our husbands IN ALL THINGS!  This means that we could
do it another way, but we won’t!  We will surrender our will to the will of our husband’s.  We will fit in with his plans
and not him with our plans.

Today we are at a big disadvantage because all of the TV shows, movies and books all seem to distort the image
of a woman’s proper Scriptural role.  They all send to us women a wrong and unscriptural message that we
cannot allow ourselves to buy into or be conform to.  We cannot allow the world to change the way we are to
think.  We must think according to the Word of God, and not to what the world dictates.  But God sees our
attempts and blesses our smallest obedience.  When we keep our mouth shut two or three times instead of
speaking our mind (although it feels like we are going to burst inside if we don’t say what we want to say) our
heart begins to change by the power of the Holy Spirit, because we have yielded to Him and His will instead of our
own.  Then a sense of peace and joy begins to fill us.  The resentment that we were carrying around inside of us
because we had to submit begins to leave.  But it takes obedience to the Lord and a determination to follow HIM,
no matter what the cross is that He decides we should bear.  Because the cross is the exact instrument that is
need to kill our flesh, and submission seems to be a cross for us sometimes.  I picture the cross in this way.  The
cross is anything that crosses our will.  Flesh scream out when our will is CROSSED and we either die a little to
self, or we yield to the flesh.

Our mouth is oftentimes the key.  Job 40:45 says, “I lay my hand upon my mouth in silence.”  “I have said too
much already.”

God is so incredible and so wonderfully wise.  He knows what is best for us humans.  You see, demon activity
enters when we are not submitted to our husbands and the husband is not allowed to be the covering for our
homes.  See the following illustration:

We must give our husbands the leadership in the home and the priesthood.  That is their God given role as men,
and they are meant to be a covering for us.  We have to get out of the way in order for them to do this sometimes;
in fact, sometimes we even need to encourage them to take charge and lead.  He cannot function until we
RECEIVE his priesthood and leadership over us.

There is a Scripture in Matt 23:39 that says, “For I say unto you- Ye shall not see me henceforth till ye shall say,
““Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.””  I think this Scripture could also be taken is regards to our
husbands that we are to receive them as our king and lord of our home.  We are to give to them the God
commanded requirement of honoring and submitting to our husbands that the Word requires of us women, which
says, “Wives submit yourselves to your own husbands in everything.”  This has a very positive side to it however.
It can bring miracles into our home that we have been waiting for, because we are walking as obedient women to
the Lord and allowing Him to have His way in us and in our homes.

OR, we can tie God’s hands of blessing to us and our families, and bind our children’s lives right along with ours.

So we must, Submit in ALL things, like the Word tells us to, there’s no getting around it if we want the Lord’s best
and His will for us and for our families.  We need to trust Him to help us to submit to His Word.  We must believe
that He will take care of us and the situations that we face when our husbands make decisions that we don’t like,
just like Sarah did with Abraham; when he told two different kings that she was his sister, because he feared for
his own life.  But she was able to still called him her lord.  Wow!  That’s because she was trust in the Lord and not
in her husband to protect her.

Eve did NOT obey husband and look at the results.  The whole human race fell because of her disobedience
(because we are all descendents of Adam and Eve) and sin was passed down from generation to generation ever
since that time.  Everything changed from that point on and we ALL have had to suffer in this present world
because of their sin.  What consequences!  Then besides that, they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden and
made to toil the earth and have pain in childbearing.

In the Old Testament in order to pass on a godly line the Israelites were not permitted to marry heathen women in
Canaan.  This was because they did not have the same GOD,  religious views and convictions that they had (not
because they were of a different race).  God did not want them to become corrupted by these heathen women and
their false gods.  God wanted to have a godly, separated, untainted people set apart unto Himself who were holy.

He still wants this today.  We have to be godly in order to pass down a godly line of children.  Solomon had 700
wives and 300 concubines.  His heart was disobedient to the Lord and he turned away from God; even after God
had made in the wisest man who had ever lived!  The result was that the whole kingdom was split in two, and
immorality weakened the social structure of Israel.  God doesn’t tell us to OBEY for no reason at all.  It is for our
highest good, because He knows the end and wants to spare us the pain we will have to go through for
disobedience.  He loves us and knows the way that will bring us the most fulfillment and happiness and bring Him
the most glory as we pass through this life down here.  We are not only told to submit and to obey for many other
reasons, but for the sake of our children and their lives.

Sanctifying Our Children:

When we love God and walk in His will, our kids are set apart because of us; even if just one parent is saved.  A
husband is sanctified by a believing wife it says in Peter.  And our children are sanctified in the same way by one
or both believing parents until they are old enough to be accountable and make the decision to follow Christ or
reject Him and go their own way.

Children learn obedience and submission by our example.  They must see what obedience and submission are
first.  First the wife is to the husband, then we all are to submit to one another in someway at times (to the Body of
Christ), “submit yourselves to one another.”  (Ephesians 5)  When our children see this in action, then they are
more likely to be able to submit to us and obey us, and will eventually be able to obey the Lord and His Word as
well.

There are many examples in Scripture that show the fruit of submission and ministering to the Lord through the
Body of Christ as well as to our husbands.  Sarah ministered to the Lord when the 3 angels came to their camp
and she prepared food for them (one of them actually was the Lord).  The blessing:  she would be given a child.

Ruth, not even being a Jew, took Naomi’s God and submitted to Naomi.  The blessing:  the line of Jesus came
from her bring forth King David and eventually Jesus.

The widow and Elijah is another example.  She cared for this unpopular prophet and ministered to him food that
she really couldn’t spare, because it was the last she had to feed her son.  But she made bread for the prophet
anyway and found that she had enough to feed her son as well.  The Lord told her through Elijah that “there will
always be plenty of flour and oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow
again!  So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her son continued to eat from her supply of flour and oil
for many days.  For no matter how much they used, there was always enough left in the containers, just as the
Lord had promised through Elijah” (I Kings 17:14-16).  Then her son died, but because she had been obedient
and submissive to the will of God previously, the blessing came back to her:  her son was restored to life.

One of Elisha’s fellow prophets had died and left a window and two sons.  Creditors came and wanted to take
away the two sons from the woman for payment of debts so she ran to Elisha and told him her story.  He asked
her want she had in her house.  She told him only a flash of oil.  He told her to go and gather all the jars that she
could find and bring them to her house.  She then was to pour the oil into each jar, and as she did, each jar filled
up.  When she ran out of jars, the oil stopped pouring.  He told her to go and sell the oil, pay her debts and she
would have enough to live on and to take care of herself and her two sons.   The blessing: she did not have to
give her two sons over to the creditors and she was given enough money to live on and stay out of debt from
selling the oil.

We need to have right attitudes towards God, our husbands and the Body of Christ.  When we do, it brings
blessings untold to both us and our children.

In each case the children of these people were directly affected by the faith (action) of the mother!  We serve the
Lord by those He brings our way.  Children see this and begin to demonstrate this God like characteristic in their
own lives too.

So keep these things in mind as you raise these little ones for the Lord.  Find ways to serve God through our
children.  “When you have done it to the least of these my little ones, you have done it unto Me.”  Think of ways
that would really bless them and build character at the same time.

You may want to make a list of things to keep them in mind.
